Cats and drinking water
By Josh Elgram, WellPawed. Last updated .
Why some cats like moving water, and why a fountain is not a treatment. Noise and filter life are to be confirmed.
Many cats drink less than the internet says they should, and many are perfectly well. A sudden change is the thing to notice: much more water, much less, straining, or blood. That phone call is to a vet, not to a shop.
When a fountain is a fair experiment
- Your cat already drinks from a running tap or a glass.
- Still bowls get ignored but the cat is otherwise themselves.
- You can commit to washing the machine. The real cleaning steps are to be confirmed with the product, so do not buy on a guess.
The fountain and the cartridge are placeholders. Noise, capacity, compatibility and filter life are to be confirmed. Do not assume the cartridge fits the fountain until that line is filled in. The fountain tool walks those questions without pretending to diagnose anything.

FAQ
Will a fountain make my cat drink enough?
Not necessarily. Some cats use them, some ignore them. If drinking or weeing has changed, call a vet rather than buying a pump.
How long does a filter last?
To be confirmed. The cartridge listing does not yet state an interval or what it removes.
